Teal Alternatives in 2026: What Else Tracks a Job Search
Checked against Teal’s live site July 1, 2026.
People look for a Teal alternative for two reasons that come up more than any others: the $29 a month, and the fact that the extension saves jobs but does not fill applications. Here is what else does the job.
PrepVault is one of the options below and we build it, so read this as our list rather than a neutral review. Every price is dated and linked to the page we checked it on.
The short answer
If you want autofill for nothing, Huntr and Simplify both give it away and cover more ATS platforms than anyone else here. If you want to keep the resume builder, nothing on this list matches Teal’s, and staying is the honest call.
If interviews are where your search stalls, or you want the AI to remember your search instead of starting cold every session, that is what PrepVault is for, at $9.99 or $19.99 a month depending on whether you want the AI layer.
What Teal is, and who it is actually for
Teal is a job search platform built around its resume builder. You track applications on a board, save jobs from 47 boards with its Chrome extension, and generate resume bullets, summaries, and cover letters with AI. It has been at this for years and has one of the bigger user bases in the category.
It is for people whose main battle is documents. If you are producing a lot of tailored resumes and cover letters fast, the builder is the most mature one in this comparison and the $13 weekly plan is a genuinely useful shape for a two-week sprint.
It is a weaker fit if the work you want automated happens in the browser or after the application goes in.
Why people look for a Teal alternative
Price. Teal+ is $29 a month, $13 a week, or $79 a quarter, checked July 1, 2026 on Teal’s pricing page. Two of the alternatives below give away the feature people most often want from a paid plan.
No autofill. Teal’s Chrome extension saves jobs from 47 boards and extracts keywords. It does not fill application forms. If you are applying in volume, that is the hour a day you were hoping to get back.
The free tier’s AI allowances are small. 10 resume bullets, 2 summaries, and 2 cover letters, plus the top-5 keyword matches per job. It is a real free plan for tracking and a trial-shaped one for the AI.
The AI starts cold. Each AI action works on the resume and job description you attach, then forgets you when the session ends. That is fine for a one-off document and less useful in week six of a search.
The alternatives
- Huntr Free for up to 100 tracked jobs, with unlimited autofill on the free plan. Pro is $40/month, $90/quarter, or $160/6 months
People who apply in volume across many ATS platforms. The autofill is free, unlimited, and covers Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, iCIMS and Taleo, which is the widest list here. Contact tracking is closer to a real CRM than Teal’s. Pro is the most expensive plan on this page. Checked July 1, 2026. Alternatives to Huntr
- Simplify Free forever for autofill, tracking and job matching. Simplify+ is $39.99/month, $19.99/week, or $89.99 per 3 months
Students and new grads, and anyone who wants autofill without a paid tier at all. Free unlimited autofill across 100+ boards, free unlimited tracking, and curated job lists, which is a feature neither Teal nor PrepVault has. Thin on interview prep. Checked July 2, 2026. Alternatives to Simplify
- PrepVault (ours) Free unlimited tracking with prep tools on every job. Core $9.99/month, Pro $19.99/month
People whose searches stall at the interview rather than the application, and who want the AI to build on their own notes and answers over time. Our resume builder is less mature than Teal’s and our autofill list is shorter than Huntr’s or Simplify’s. Checked July 1, 2026.

Where PrepVault does not fit, and Teal still wins
Maturity. Teal has years of polish on its resume builder, more templates, and a much larger user base. If you hit a weird edge case, someone has hit it before you.
Board coverage for saving. Teal’s extension saves from 47 named boards, including several diversity-focused ones. PrepVault covers the major boards and most others, but Teal publishes the longer explicit list.
Billing flexibility. The $13 weekly plan is a useful shape for a two-week application sprint. PrepVault bills monthly at minimum.
Where PrepVault fits
The context profile. Teal’s AI reads whatever document you attach and forgets you when the session ends. PrepVault accumulates your notes, stage changes, saved answers, and practice results, and every prep plan reads that history. Day 30 output is more yours than day 1 output. Nothing else on this page does this.
Application autofill. PrepVault’s extension fills the form from your profile on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Workday, shows you every field before it writes anything, and never submits for you. It is Core tier and up, Chrome desktop only, which is narrower and more expensive than Huntr’s or Simplify’s free version.
The prep layer. The full interview question database, flashcards, and say-it-out-loud practice with a timer and transcript are free. Teal’s prep story is newer and thinner.
Price. Teal+ is $29 a month. PrepVault’s AI tier is $19.99, and the non-AI premium tier is $9.99. If you do not want AI at all, Teal has no equivalent of Core.
Behavioral prep doesn’t assume your field: there’s a core set that works anywhere, with role-tagged depth on top of it, free on every tier. Technical depth is deepest in engineering.
FAQ
What is the best free Teal alternative?
Simplify, if autofill is what you want: it is free forever, unlimited, and covers 100+ boards, with free unlimited tracking alongside it. Huntr’s free plan also gives unlimited autofill but caps tracking at 100 jobs.
PrepVault’s free tier tracks unlimited applications with the interview prep tools open on every job, and the resume checker is free with no account. What it does not include free is autofill, which needs Core at $9.99 a month.
Is Teal free?
Teal has a real free plan: unlimited job tracking, 10 resume templates, top-5 keyword matches per job description, and small one-time AI allowances of 10 resume bullets, 2 summaries, and 2 cover letters. Unlimited AI and full keyword matching need Teal+, which costs $29 a month, $13 a week, or $79 a quarter as of July 2026.
Does Teal autofill job applications?
No. As of July 2026, Teal’s Chrome extension saves jobs from 47 boards and extracts keywords, but it does not fill application forms.
Huntr and Simplify both autofill free. PrepVault’s extension fills applications from your profile on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Indeed, LinkedIn, and Workday, needs the Core plan at $9.99 a month, and runs on Chrome desktop. All three review before writing and leave the submit button to you.
What does "the AI remembers your search" actually mean?
In Teal, each AI feature works on the document you hand it: attach a resume and a job description, get output, done. Next session starts from zero.
In PrepVault, a context profile accumulates as you use the app: interview notes, stage changes, saved answers, flashcard and quiz results. AI prep plans read that profile, so they target what you are actually weak on instead of generic advice for the role. The longer your search runs, the bigger the gap between the two approaches.
Which Teal alternative is cheapest?
Simplify, at zero for the parts most people use, with Simplify+ at $39.99 a month if you want the AI extras. PrepVault Core is $9.99 a month and Pro is $19.99, both below Teal+ at $29. Huntr Pro is $40 a month and is the most expensive plan named here, though its free tier is generous.
Can I export my data if I switch?
PrepVault exports your job log as CSV on the free tier, so trying it does not lock you in. If you leave, your pipeline leaves with you.
Start a board without signing up
Paste a job description and get a tracked role in seconds, with the skills, requirements, and red flags pulled out for you. It runs in your browser and the board survives a refresh, so you can see whether the shape of it works for you before you decide anything.
No account, no card. If you keep it, a free PrepVault account tracks unlimited applications with the prep tools open on every one of them.
